3rd General Assembly in London 24/04/2013 16:26

On 6 April 2013, EULITA members gathered in London for the 3rd Annual General Assembly, which took place in connection with the APCI Conference and the QUALETRA Launch Conference. Katy Stifterova was co-opted as the new Secretary. An updated version of the Code of Ethics was adopted and will soon appear on the EULITA website. The Assembly decided to submit an application for a pilot project under the Call for Proposals in order to carry out a pilot project for a European database for legal interpreters and translators. This is a project mentioned in the Stockholm Roadmap.

3rd General Assembly of EULITA 19/02/2013 16:08

The 3rd General Assembly of EULITA in London on 6 April 2013 will take place in conjunction with the APCI Conference on “The Challenges to Professional Translation and Interpreting in the Justice Sector” (www.apciinterpreters.org.uk) on 5 and 6 April 2013. It is preceded by the launch conference for the QUALETRA (Quality in Legal Translation) project on 4 April 2013 (qualetra@eulita.eu).

Legal interpreting in Greece: DIDI is underway 11/02/2013 11:12

DIDI is a research project co-funded by the Hellenic Republic and the European Social Fund and it deals with the interpreting before police and court authorities between non-Greek speakers and public servants in Greece. DIDI was officially initiated on October 15th 2012 and is in his first steps. The two-year project has been launched by the Department of Applied Foreign Languages in Management and Commerce, Epirus Institute of Technology.

Seminar on EU Directive 2010/64 in Braga on 15 March 2013 06/02/2013 12:35

BabeliUM/Universidade do Minho and the Law School at University of Braga are organizing a one-day event focusing on issues set forth in the EU Directive on the right to interpretation and translation in criminal proceedings. Eminent speakers from the Portuguese public sector, as well as practitioners of legal interpreting and translation will discuss the salient point requiring transposition. QUALETRA: Launch Conference and Call for Papers 04/02/2013 16:11

The aim of the Qualetra launch conference is to get an update of the current situation of legal translation in Europe, and to bring together all relevant stakeholders together to discuss the content of the project. The conference is open to practitioners and trainers of legal translation. The registration fee is €50. The number of conference participants is limited to 120. The deadline for registration is 1 March 2013. 

The language of the conference is English, interpreting into French will be provided.
