Lucía Castaño Castaño

Lucía Castaño is a member of the Board of the Spanish Association of Court and Sworn Translators and Interpreters (APTIJ).

She holds a Degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Vigo (Spain) and a MA in Legal Translation German/Spanish from the University of Sevilla. She also holds the official accreditation of Sworn translator English/Galician. After graduating she worked extensively as a freelance translator/interpreter. In 2003 she succeeded at the court interpreter-translator competitive examination (Spanish-English-German) organised by the Spanish Ministry of Justice. She was posted to the law courts in Palma de Mallorca, where she deals with translation and interpreting assignments at all levels (Courts of First Instance and Examination, Criminal Courts, Court of Appeal –criminal division-, Family Courts, Courts of Gender Violence, Juvenile Courts, Regional High Court of Justice, etc.). Likewise, she has recently joined, as a part-time lecturer, the Department of Modern Languages at the University of the Balearic Islands, where she teaches English in the Spanish Studies and Teacher Training Degrees.
