Today we celebrate and honour all translators, people who allow us to understand other cultures, to take delight in reading foreign poems and to cherish foreign writers, to understand why we have been condemned – or acquitted – in another country, whether the contract we have signed corresponds to our will.
Translation does not exist without knowledge and skills, creativity and a keen interest in languages and cultures. Translation means study and training, diligence and conscientiousness, passion and enthusiasm. Therefore, translation is, essentially, a human activity that all kinds of machines and devices can only support and maybe simplify, never replace.
EULITA stands for all those colleagues who are overcoming these difficult months with talent and tenacity.
