We are once again celebrating the 9th of May, which became Europe Day a few years ago in recognition of the importance for our continent of the famous declaration made by Robert Schuman, the French Foreign Minister at the time, on 9 May 1950.
The pandemic forces us, for the second time in a row, to reflect – alone and not face to face – on our destiny as European legal translators and interpreters, engaged day after day in the difficult and demanding but essential task of contributing with discernment, competence and conscience to a fair trial and to the smooth running of justice. Let’s not give up our rights, let’s not lose the motivation to improve ourselves and be recognised and respected.
