General Assembly
The General Assembly is the sovereign body of EULITA.
The 9th General Assembly of EULITA was hosted by ALTI, EULITA’s Luxembourg member association, and was held in Luxembourg on 28-29 March 2019, preceded by a conference.
The Impact of Interpreters on the Judiciary at National and International Level
in cooperation with ALTI (Association luxembourgeoise des Traducteurs et Interprètes)
Date: 28-29 March 2019
Venue: Court of Justice of the European Union, Plateau de Kirchberg, Luxembourg
The conference “The Impact of Interpreters on the Judiciary at National and International Level” organized by EULITA at the Court of Justice of the EU in Luxembourg on 28 and 29 March was a great success. 160 registered participants attended the two round tables whose panels’ distinguished members discussed and answered questions posed by the public about legal interpreters’ quality and recognition, status and remuneration, working conditions and dignity, etc.
This was the first occasion – of a long series, we hope – where national and international magistrates met, exchanged opinions and analyzed the situation of legal interpreters in Europe after the transposition of Directive 2010/64/EU: a useful way to raise awareness among legal operators and national and European legislators.
The second conference day also featured two brief presentations on a new textbook on legal interpreting in Norway and on how to evaluate the quality of legal interpreters.
You will find all the presentations hereafter.
Please note: The following speakers kindly made their presentations available for publication (in order of appearance). The right to publication of these presentations is reserved by EULITA. Any use or publication by third parties is subject to EULITA’s prior approval.
