Final conference for the QUALETRA project: Call for Papers
The QUALETRA consortium invites everyone interested in legal translation to participate in the final QUALETRA conference – legal translators, researchers, trainers, legal practitioners, (including lawyers, judges, etc). “LIT Search” project accepted
The “LIT Search” consortium recently received information from the EU Commission that the proposal for the “LIT Search” project has been accepted and will receive EU funding. The “LIT Search” project will be a pilot project to explore the modalities and practical features of a European database of legal interpreters and translators and eventually link up the countries participating in the pilot project (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom; France, Slovenia).

Deadline for transposition of EU Directive 2010/64 expired
The 28 EU member states had three – instead of the usual two – years to transpose Directive 2010/64 on the right to interpretation and translation in criminal proceedings into national law. However, according to the most recent information only 8 countries have communicated their national execution measures, while 1 country reported that it did not see any need to adopt any such measures.

Survey: EU research project CO-Minor-IN/QUEST
The EU research project CO-Minor-IN/QUEST examines the practices used in interpreter-mediated interviews of minors in criminal justice contexts. As part of this EU research project, KU Leuven is currently conducting a survey on this issue.
