A proposal for “LIT Search”, a pilot project for an EU database of legal interpreters and translators, was filed under the Call for Proposals JUST/2013/JPEN/AG (Specific Programme “Criminal Justice” – 2007 to 2013).
The “LIT Search” project will be a pilot project to explore the modalities and practical features of such a database and eventually link up the countries participating in the pilot project. A decision on the proposed project can be expected by late November of this year.
TEPIS and ÖVGD are jointly organizing a conference on "The New Tasks of Legal Interpreters and Translators in the Enlarged Europe" on 3 and 4 April 2014, which will precede the EULITA General Assembly. The conference will mark the 10th anniversary of the 2004 enlargement of the EU. The focus of the conference will be on the Central European EU countries (Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia) and their neighbours (Belarus, Ukraine and Russia). A Call for Papers and more details about the event and the venue will follow in due course.
The deadline for the surveys on current practices in 1) assessing legal translation (product, translator and service/process quality assurance) and 2) legal training of translators/language training of legal practitioners has been extended to 30 June 2013.
