The early-bird rate to register for the conference jointly organized by the Association of Court Interpreters and Translators, Croatia, and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in Opatija, Croatia, 20 – 21 March 2015, has been extended to 20 January 2015. ISO/TC 37/SC 5 adopts EULITA’s proposal for a new work item
Work on an ISO standard on “Guidelines for language services in judicial settings” will now begin on the basis of EULITA’s proposal and the comments received in the course of the voting procedure. The project leader, Liese Katschinka, will prepare a working draft (WD) and develop the project together with the nominated experts.

APCI celebrated its 40th anniversary on 20 October. At the general meeting, Alan Thompson, who previously served as the Association’s Secretary, was elected to be the new Chairman of APCI’s Committee. He succeeded Geoffrey Buckingham, who joined the EULITA Executive Committee in April 2014.

EULITA submitted the proposal "Guidelines for language services in judicial settings" to ISO (International Organization for Standardization). National mirror committees can vote on this new work item proposal until 12 November 2014.
Norwegian Interpreting Services Review Committee draws up escalation plan for use of interpreters in the public sector
The Norwegian Interpreting Services Review Committee has drawn up an official report on the use of interpreters in the public sector, including an escalation plan from 2015 to 2018.

2015 Transius Conference in Geneva
The Centre for Legal and Institutional Translation Studies (Transius) of the University of Geneva will hold its first international conference from 24 to 27 June 2015. The 2015 Transius Conference will combine two complementary events: a conference on Law, Translation and Culture (LTC5) organised in collaboration with the Multicultural Association of Law and Language (MALL), and a legal and institutional translation seminar organised in collaboration with IAMLADP’s Universities Contact Group (UCG).
