The FIT Committee for Legal Translation and Court Interpreting in cooperation with the French Interpreters and Translators Association UNETICA and with the support of the Institut Supérieur d'Interprétation et de Traduction (ISIT) is organizing THE TENTH INTERNATIONAL FORUM ON ETHICS AND GOOD PRACTICES in Paris on 19 MAY to 21 MAY 2011.

All but one of EULITA’s currently seventeen full member associations and a surprisingly large number of its thirty-four associate members turned out for EULITA’s first General Assembly. The observers included representatives of associations interested in joining EULITA and representatives of organisations wishing to cooperate more closely with EULITA.
On Saturday, 28 May 2011, the University of Salford organises a workshop on Translating and Interpreting for Human Rights.
Language rights are enshrined in International Law and European legislation, and the mediation of translators and interpreters is crucial to securing such rights. Language mediation can occur at the level of international agencies, in the context of fact-finding missions in zones of conflict, or be related to public service interpreting (for instance asylum hearings and police interpreting).
An international symposium on Videoconference and Remote Interpreting in Legal Proceedings was held in London on 17-19 February 2011.
Right before Christmas convening letters were sent to the full and associate members of EULITA announcing that the first general assembly will be held in Hannover, Germany, on Sunday, 27 March 2011. An informal meeting open to all persons interested in EULITA is scheduled for Saturday, 26 March 2011, from 4.30 to 6.00 p.m.
